Our story
From a fax machine to more than 1,000 firms
Bootstrapped, grown almost entirely on recommendations, and still privately owned — our story looks a lot like our clients'.
Two agents and a fax machine
In 2008 Darren was in lettings, with a young family and an itch to build something of his own. Daniel was in home sales just as the property crash hit. Both agents since they were 18, both knew how frustrating slow referencing could be — so at 23 they started doing it themselves, with little more than two computers, a fax machine and a filing cabinet.
Built, not bought
Within three months we were building our first platform, digitising a process the rest of the industry still ran by fax. We've never taken outside investment. The business grew on recommendations — and on clients who moved companies and brought us with them.
An extension of your team
Seventeen years on, a 22-strong UK team looks after more than 1,000 agents, and most of our clients stay with us for years. The idea has never changed: care about the quality of the work, look after people properly, and be an extension of your team — not just another supplier.
