Who you are
Your identity and, if it applies, your right to rent. The evidence goes on your file so you aren't asked for it twice.
For tenants
Optional tenants contents insurance from a panel of leading UK insurers, for any rented home in the UK. Your price in about two minutes, paid monthly by Direct Debit, and you can cancel any time. Been asked to complete a Blinc reference? That's explained below too.
Furniture, appliances, electronics, clothes and everything else you keep at home, after fire, flood, storm, escape of water or theft. Your landlord's insurance covers the building, not any of it.
Tenant liability up to £10,000 for accidental damage to your landlord's fixtures, fittings and furniture. The spilt wine on their carpet is a claim on your policy, not a deduction from your deposit.
One monthly price including Insurance Premium Tax, by Direct Debit, from a panel of leading UK insurers. You have 14 days to change your mind, and the documents are there to read before you pay.
Your reference
Everything is pulled from the source: your identity provider, your bank or HMRC, and the Land Registry. No photographing payslips, no waiting for an employer to write back.
You don't need an account for your reference.
It starts from the link your agent or landlord sent you, so open that email or text and follow it. Can't find it? Ask them to resend it, or call 03333 441300.
Your agent or landlord adds you, and we email and text you a link. There's no account to create and no password. It works on your phone, and most people finish in 15 to 20 minutes. Stop part-way and your answers are saved.
A photo of your passport or ID and a quick selfie, checked by a certified identity provider. If you need to prove your right to rent in England, you give your Home Office share code in the same step. British and Irish passports cover it.
Connect your bank, read-only, and your income and rent affordability come through in seconds. Or sign in to HMRC and your employer and pay are confirmed from your own record. Then your addresses, and your current or previous landlord if we need them.
What we check, and why
A reference built from verified data is quicker for you and harder to argue with, which is why agents and landlords trust it.
Your identity and, if it applies, your right to rent. The evidence goes on your file so you aren't asked for it twice.
Your income against the rent, from your bank or HMRC rather than payslips. If it falls short, a guarantor can back you.
Public credit information such as CCJs and insolvency, tied to your verified identity. Everyday borrowing isn't a problem on its own.
Where you've lived, and a word from your current or previous landlord. We chase them for you.
Someone who agrees to pay if you can't, often a parent. They get their own link and the same short set of steps.
Your agent or landlord sees the outcome and the evidence behind it. You see your progress as each step completes.

I was impressed with the service. Firstly the simplicity of the platform, clear plain English instructions, intuititive and easy to follow. The automatic upload was greaty. Of course, you cant always account for human error, i.e. me missing a document, this was really efficiently communicated to me, I responded and the job was completed. Fast, straightword and stress free in a stressful time. Top marks, thank you.
Just wanted to say a huge thank you to the Blinc Referencing team. They were really helpful, informative and were able to help guide a vulnerable older lady through referencing with ease (passed refs in just over 24hours), where other agents had stayed away from her. Again huge thank you and your patience.
I was really pleased with how smooth it was. The online form was simple to fill in and didn't take long. They kept me updated at each stage, so I always knew where things stood.
